Moving back to North Yorkshire in the May 2019 after 14 years in Verbier was hard; especially as my husband and VADA co-founder Rich was very ill by then. He died later that year in December.

The following year I was approached by our local Amateur Drama group to put on another Pantomime, something I didn’t intend doing but thought “I’ll do one just to get it moving again”.

 

That was Cinderella. The following year we had to cancel because of Covid, but I had the Panto bug again and the following year we did Peter Pan. With great difficulty as there were still restrictions and the cast kept testing positive for Covid!

Last year we did a very good Wizard of Oz and this year was Aladdin with our biggest audience yet, five performances, all full houses. We used radio mics for the first time which had some challenges! A cast of nearly 60 including children, who always play an integral part in our shows. We have a fantastic band and also use the local dance school. 

 

I love it that you guys are carrying on with the Panto; Richard would be proud of you all too.  

 

I really know how hard it is to keep these voluntary groups going but as you know it’s so  good for your mental health and wellbeing to be part of a fun and caring community.
